New nocturnal work on a decommissioned machine-gun pillbox located along Sime Road. This pillbox was constructed in the 1930s as part of the British preparation for war in Singapore before the Second World War broke out on the island.
While many pillboxes were constructed along the coast to strengthen Singapore's coastal defence, Sime Road Machine-Gun Pillbox was located inland to provide fire cover and defence for key installations in Bukit Timah. The installations included supply dumps in Bukit Timah and the nearby Sime Road Camp which served as the Combined Headquarters of the British Army and Air Force from early December 1941 to 11 February 1942.
