Good evening nightographers! Tonight I want to show you this night photograph I made back in early April 2007. I bet most of you do not know this place despite the photo title's giveaway. Tonight's air lingered with nostalgia. Make the jump now for more photos.
How time flies! This 14-year-old photograph was made and its negatives were scanned and stored in the Archival Disk for so long. So I thought this photo would be a good add-on to the Dwell In The Night project.
Let's travel back in time to September 2006. News broke out on the official closure date of the former Singapore National Stadium to be on 30 June 2007, Saturday. It was to make way for the present-day Sports Hub. There was a closing ceremony event held on that night.
During the closing ceremony of the National Stadium, spectators cheered on for their respective soccer team with the Kallang Wave. |
Prior to this historical ceremonial event, I went back numerous times to take day and night photographs of the old stadium. I brought with me 2 film cameras - Shanghai TLR and Nikon FM10. For night photography, access into the stadium was not allowed. Unlike in the day, the old stadium was opened to the public and many local Singaporeans paid their visits there to take memorial photographs.

The above image is one of the many other night photographs I made, and more to come in the next blog post. If you're interested in viewing the day photographs and the closing ceremony event of the old National Stadium, refer to the respective links down below.
